Oakland Digital (ODALC), a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, public benefit organization, is proud to present our 2nd annual Social Media for Small Business (SMfSB) symposium!
SMfSB is Oakland Digital's one day, five-hour event that serves as a neutral educational and learning platform for local small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs. SMfSB breaks social media down into easy-to-understand pieces, so attendees can make sense of and utilize digital tools and technology as a platform to grow their business.
MC Hammer, the Oakland rapper / dancer / preacher / entrepreneur, is making a special appearance, speaking about the power of social and Oakland Digital's work to help transform Oakland into an area that flourishes through technology, innovation and collaboration among diverse community members.
Tech experts from Google, Yelp, Constant Contact, Wix.com, Jimdo, GoPago and Oakland Digital will be there to host this historic educational presentation on digital tools for small businesses!
Small Business Owners: Learn how to use powerful online resources in a way that grows and helps your business thrive.
Non-profits: Learn about toolsets to best integrate social media for social good in your long-term communication and fundraising strategy.

Google+ Pages and Tools for Local Business
Steve leads Google’s efforts to grow the Google+ community through partnerships with influential organizations, media companies, brands, and public figures. Previously he built the news and politics division of YouTube, including CitizenTube, a channel that curates and promotes citizen-generated news clips from breaking news events like the Arab Spring. He launched the award-winning CNN/YouTube Debates, the first-ever web-to-TV political debates in which candidates answered questions submitted by users and in 2010 he hosted the first-ever social media interview with President Obama. Grove also started YouTube's nonprofit program, which allows charity organizations to harness the platform for their causes Steve was named one of “12 people to watch” by Newsweek (December 2007), a “Rising Star of 2009” by Campaigns & Electionmagazine and is a Truman National Security Fellow.
